SGV participates in the 12th National Convention on Statistics

The event was spearheaded by the National Statistics Convention Board (NSCB) and organized by the Philippine Statistical System. The forum encouraged the exchange of ideas and experiences in the field of statistics and discussions on recent statistical developments. It also elicited the cooperation and support of statisticians and professionals in related fields from government, academe, the private sector, and civil society towards a more responsive statistical system.

A total of 135 technical papers were presented over the two-day event, at 10 simultaneous sessions at a time. Highlights were three plenary sessions on accelerating inclusive growth and competitiveness through statistics, social media and statistics, and managing risks to development.

For small-room sessions, the group was divided to attend talks on quantitative tools, inclusive growth and microfinance, SEER/macroeconomic industry, banking, agriculture, and insurance programs. This is in line with FSRM’s developmental-themed initiatives such as the basic education program, small and medium enterprises, and value chain financing for agriculture.
