SGV holds impact investment events

On the occasion of the 10th year of the Entrepreneur Of The Year Philippines (EOYP) program, the SGV Foundation, in partnership with the Singapore-based Shujog organization, held a workshop and talk on impact investment last 23 September. Shujog is an advocacy, research and capacity-building non-profit social enterprise seeking to foster growth, maturity and innovations to the social enterprise and impact investment sectors of Asia.

SGV partners, senior directors and directors attended the morning Impact Investment Workshop and were welcomed by SGV Vice Chairman and Deputy Managing Partner Itos Cruz. Shujog Founder and Managing Director Durreen Shahnaz and Research and Programs Director Alison Eskesen then gave presentations on the different methods of investing in social enterprises and tools for measuring the impacts of the emerging social and economic development sector.

Later that day, SGV Chairman and Managing Partner Vic Noel opened the Investment Impact Chat for SGVF friends, past EOYP finalists and SGV partners. A panel of experts talked about the status of the social enterprise space in the Philippines and what can be done to continue its maturity.
Ms. Shahnaz facilitated the discussion of the panel that comprised Institute for Social Entrepreneurship in Asia Founding President Dr. Marie Lisa Dacanay, Asian Development Bank Poverty Reduction, Gender & Social Development Division Director and Social Development and Poverty Community of Practice Chairman Bart Edes, as well as xChange Founder and Managing Director Rico Gonzalez.
