SGV alumni relive the good old days

SGV celebrated its 2010 Alumni Homecoming on July 6 at the Rizal Ballroom of the Makati Shangri-La Hotel. About a thousand former SGVeans reconnected with SGV founder Wash SyCip, current partners, principals and managers. Newly appointed Department of Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, Bureau of Internal Revenue Commissioner Kim Henares and Bureau of Customs Commissioner Lito Alvarez were among the notable alumni in attendance. Former managing partners Roy Navarro, Gloria Tan-Climaco and Charlie Alindada were also spotted in the crowd.

The celebration featured the soft launch of the new SGV website, which includes an alumni page where SGV alumni can register and acquire their personal e-mail addresses. There was also a mock-up of the SGV store featuring a full line of SGV-branded merchandise. In his message, Chairman and Managing Partner Vic Noel shared some of the Firm’s corporate social responsibility initiatives, including our Gawad Kalinga involvement in Camarin, Kalookan City; the firm-wide environmental sustainability program; tree planting activities; and rehabilitation work for schools damaged by Typhoon Ondoy. Vic also shared that the SGV buildings will be renovated to house a retired partners’ lounge, as well as an alumni center where former SGVeans can catch up with their fellow alumni and shop at the SGV store. Vic urged the guests to watch out for the unveiling of the SGV museum in time for the Firm’s 65th anniversary in 2011. At the end of the event, guests received a gift bag with SGV souvenirs.
