Advisory SD tops IIAP course

Advisory Senior Director (SD) Romeo Abada participated in a recent Basic Non-Life course for actuaries conducted by the Insurance Institute for Asia and the Pacific (IIAP). He emerged the top-scorer and valedictorian among other skilled practitioners in the field.

Passing the Basic Non-Life course is a requirement by the Insurance Commission (IC) to be accredited as a signing actuary for non-life insurance companies. Actuaries are now in demand in the non-life sector after the IC issued a regulation requiring the actuarial certification of a non-life company’s reserves. Taking the Basic Non-Life course ensures that actuaries are equipped with the proper knowledge of the industry and the technical skills to accurately calculate non-life reserve requirements.

As president of the Actuarial Society of the Philippines (ASP) last year, Romeo also launched initiatives to collaborate with the IC on different issues involving the new regulation on non-life companies.

Romeo currently focuses on retirement consulting engagements and other actuarial projects within Advisory.

Congratulations, Romeo!
