SGVeans shine during the 68th PICPA ANC

The Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants held its 68th Annual National Convention last 14 to 16 November at the SMX Convention Center with the theme ACT Now! – Accountability, Credibility and Transparency. During the event, MG2 Assurance partner Dolly Miguel received the Outstanding CPA in Public Practice award for her significant contributions to public accounting at the national level. She was also the chair for the event’s technical sessions.

Some of the resource speakers were also from SGV. MG3 Leader and Chief Risk Officer Leo Matignas talked on ethics and ethical dilemmas and Accounting Standards Group Head Yen Abarca discussed the latest developments in International Financial Reporting Standards. Financial Services Risk Management partner Ian Lauron spoke on how higher education can reinvigorate the economy and promote accountability, credibility and transparency, while associate Jack Flaminiano tackled the current state of tertiary education in our country. EY Greater China Managing Partner and Transaction Advisory Services Leader Bob Partridge also flew in from Shanghai to give a lecture on global economic updates and their impact on Asia Pacific.

The event committee was chaired by Tax partner Henry Tan and included former SGV partner Aldrin Cerrado; Assurance partners Dolly Miguel, John Villa, Sonia Segovia and Len Layug; Tax partner Kiko Ricamora; Advisory partner Warren Bituin; senior directors Leo Leaño, Joanne Marie Macainag, Meynard Bonoen and Peter John Ventura; as well as Evanz Arnigo from CBS.
