SGV holds seminar on BEPS Action Plans

A total of 60 participants attended SGV’s seminar on the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) Action Plans last 22 January 2016 at the New World Hotel. The seminar aimed to provide an insight into the 15 Action Plans of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s BEPS project, which are expected to result in fundamental changes to international tax standards. Participants were mostly from companies with cross-border operations.

After SGV Chairman and Managing Partner Vic Noel’s opening remarks, EY Europe Tax Desk for Asia Pacific (APAC) Leader Bas Leenders gave an overview of the project and the reaction to it, as well as focus areas and developments around the world. SGV Market Group 4 Leader and Tax Principal Daks Balili then shared some insights on the project from a Philippine perspective. The immediate impact of Actions 13 and 8-10 were discussed by EY Transfer Pricing (TP) Services Partner Henry Syrett. EY APAC TP Leader Curt Kinsky focused on TP trends while SGV TP Group Leader Rommie Danao provided a local perspective on the topic. SGV Tax Head and General Counsel Willie Villanueva formally closed the seminar.

The seminar was organized by SGV’s International Tax Services Group, namely Partner Fidela Isip-Reyes and Senior Directors Marga Mallari-Acaban and Ria Ochoa-Sarmiento.
