SGV founders, Wash SyCip and Fred Velayo recently celebrated their 92nd birthdays at the Makati Shangri-la Hotel. Over 250 friends and family, former and active partners, and special guests attended the fiesta-themed festivities.

SGV Chairman and Managing Partner Vic Noel formally welcomed everyone to the celebration, sharing his insights on our founders’ legendary friendship and talents. The world-renowned Bayanihan dance company, the country’s national folk dance group, treated the guests to an unforgettable set of traditional dances, which included a segment where they asked members of the audience to dance the tinikling. Former EY Chairman Jim Turley gamely tried the dance . To round out the evening’s superb entertainment, our very own SGV Glee Club serenaded the guests with classic Filipino tunes (kundimans) like “Gaano Kita Kamahal” and “Kalesa,” much to the delight of the celebrants and guests.
