SGV Cebu: 60 years of quality service

When SGV Cebu opened for business at the TUT Building, Juan Luna Street on 27 September 1951, all it had was one room, a few tables and a staff of three: Jose “Mr. Quints” L. Quintos, Edgardo Severino and Emma Gustillo. Mr. Quints, who was then a senior staff member, volunteered to head the branch.

Through the years, SGV Cebu has lent its expertise to many of its Cebu-based clients. One of its first clients was Lu Du and Lu Ym Corporation, which was then the largest copra exporter and the country’s largest exporter of coconut oil. In 1998, the Cebu branch opened the Mactan office to better serve its thriving clients in the ecozone and within areas in Lapu-Lapu City. These two offices merged in 2007.

This year, SGV Cebu celebrates 60 years of quality service. The branch has come a long way from its staff of three. It has grown exponentially in terms of client base, revenue and number. Partner Madz Vestil now leads the 52-strong workforce as they strive to maintain consistent quality service and contribute significantly to Cebu’s economic progress.
