SGV and Sun.Star hold economic forum

SGV and Sun.Star Management, Inc. hosted the ASEAN Economic Forum 2015: Opportunities and Challenges recently at the Marco Polo Hotel in Cebu City.

The event provided information about the ASEAN economic integration to help prepare business owners, particularly in the Visayas and Mindanao regions, for the upcoming integration. It gave participants ideas on how to recognize and seize opportunities for growth, networking, and nation-building.

A total of 335 participants attended the event comprising CEOs, top officials and representatives from various industries such as sugar, shipping, real estate, professional services, technology, and government.

Sun.Star Media Group Inc. Chairman Jesus Garcia Jr. and SGV Chairman and Managing Partner Vic Noel welcomed the speakers and attendees. Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Gregory Domingo was the keynote speaker.

Other speakers included USAID Trade-Related Assistance for Development (TRADE) Project Chief of Party and former Secretary for Economic Planning Dr. Cielito Habito, DTI International Trade Group Assistant Secretary Ceferino Rodolfo, and Former President of the Philippine Institute of Developmental Studies Dr. Josef Yap.

Panel discussions followed every talk. The reactors in the panel discussion included representatives from various industry sectors, government officials, and industry players from different business associations in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.

Also in attendance were SGV Vice Chairman and Deputy Managing Partner Itos Cruz, Senior Adviser Amb. Delia Albert, Tax Head Mannie Alcantara, Advisory Head Winnie Chan, Market Group 4 Leader Daks Balili, Cebu Partner-in-Charge Wash Roqueza (WAR), Cebu Tax Partner Fame Delos Santos and FSRM Partner Ian Lauron.

The event was organized with the support of the SGV Cebu AEC Working Committee Core Team composed of WAR, Charles Andrew Tan, Elaine Alagao, Vanessa Doyola, Krislyn Marikit, Frances Dominique Lim and Boni Brendi Abuyog.
