SGV and ERIA host Philippine PPP conference

Over 300 senior executives from top businesses and government organizations attended the “Philippine Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Conference” on March 2, 2011 hosted by the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) and SGV.

Opening the conference was SGV Chairman and Managing Partner Vic Noel who said that the PPP, under the leadership of President Benigno Aquino III, aims to revive investor confidence in the Philippines and fight poverty by way of infrastructure development and job creation.

Among the distinguished speakers were National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Director General Cayetano Paderanga, Jr., Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio Singson, Solicitor General Jose Anselmo Cadiz, ERIA Assistant to the Executive Director Toru Ishihara, EY India Partner Abhaya Agarwal, and EY Australia Partner Bill Banks.

The panelists were composed of: Panel A (Framework) — World Bank Country Director Bert Hofman and ADB Public Sector Specialist Jon Lindborg; Panel B (Infrastructure Financing and Viability Gap Funding) — ADB Private Sector Specialist Frederic Thomas, DBP Senior Executive Vice President Armando Samia, NDC General Manager Ma. Lourdes Rebueno, CMDC Co-Chair and BDO Capital President Eduardo Francisco, former Undersecretary of Finance Romeo Bernardo and Railways Specialist Manuel Reyes; and Panel C (Model Contracts and Dispute Resolution) — Romulo Law Senior Partner Perry Pe, ACCRA Law Senior Partner Francisco Ed. Lim and SyCip Law Senior Partner Rocky Reyes.

Coordinated by SGV principal Ronnie Santos, the two-day conference continued until March 3, 2011, where more than 30 international ambassadors to the Philippines attended a PPP Special Ambassador’s Briefing.
