SGV hosted on 16 May a send-off cocktail for Entrepreneur Of The Year Philippines (EOYP) 2012, Mr. Jaime Ayala, Founder and CEO of Hybrid Social Solutions, Inc. (HSSI). Mr. Ayala will compete against about 50 other EOY country winners in the World Entrepreneur Of The Year (WEOY) 2013 Awards in Monte Carlo, Monaco on 8 June. Some of HSSI’s partners and core team members were present, as well as EOYP 2012 finalists Nelson and Siu Ping Par and Willy Tee Ten.

In his welcome remarks, Chairman and Managing Partner Vic Noel noted that Mr. Ayala will be the first Social Entrepreneur to represent the Philippines in the WEOY Awards and that this signifies the growing role of social entrepreneurs around the world.

EOYP Program Director Atty. Tonette Tionko presented Mr. Ayala with a golden ru yi scepter for good luck. Planters Development Bank Chairman and President Ambassador Jesus Tambunting, who was the 2009 EOYP, shared some words of encouragement by telling Mr. Ayala “The experience is the award itself. It will be counted among the most memorable experiences of your life.” Assurance partner Gerry Sanvictores offered a ceremonial toast.

Mr. Ayala expressed his gratitude to the guests and acknowledged the hard work of his team and HSSI’s partners in providing Filipinos in remote areas with access to solar energy. He further recognized the importance of social entrepreneurship: “Entrepreneurship is more than just profiting from people, it is really about helping people achieve their potential. It is more than creating financial value, it should also be about the kind of value that you are creating for society.”
