Capping off a series of trainings for mining professionals for FY2016 was the Mining and Metals Industry Briefing held on 23 July 2015. The briefing, attended by more than 100 participants, tackled relevant economic updates and industry developments affecting the Philippine mining sector. In addition, business risks, accounting and auditing considerations, and tax matters relevant to the mining industry were discussed in the said briefing.

SGV Senior Adviser Ambassador Delia Albert (DDA) also spoke during the briefing. As an advocate for responsible mining, she inspired the participants with insights on how mining could be instrumental in our country’s development and progress.

DDA is a career diplomat and has represented the Philippines in various capacities in Switzerland, Romania, Hungary, the former German Democratic Republic, the Federal Republic of Germany and the Commonwealth of Australia with concurrent accreditation to Nauru, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. She served as Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Australia in 2001. Before her appointment in December 2003 as the first woman Secretary of Foreign Affairs, she served as Undersecretary for International Economic Relations and Philippine Senior Official for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.
