DDA named UP Distinguished Alumna

The University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA) recently announced its roster of outstanding alumni to be recognized for their extraordinary achievements and excellent societal contributions through their diverse fields of expertise. Leading the way as UPAA’s Most Distinguished Alumna is our very own senior adviser Amb. Delia D. Albert (DDA).

Amb. Albert’s career in public service spanned 43 years and she was the first woman Secretary of Foreign Affairs in the Philippines and in the ASEAN region. As Foreign Secretary she promoted three major objectives for Philippine diplomacy – national security, economic growth and development, and care of nationals. Her concern for the welfare of the thousands of Filipino women workers overseas prompted Amb. Albert to initiate a resolution to protect and promote the rights of women migrant workers at the Geneva Commission on Human Rights in 2004.

The awarding ceremonies will be held during the UP General Alumni-Faculty Homecoming & Reunion on 23 June at the Bahay ng Alumni in Diliman, Quezon City.

Congratulations, DDA!
