Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) associates Jeric Paul Posio, Viktor Xenon Lequin and Erwin Paolo Miranda passed the Level 1 Chartered Financial Analyst exam held last 1 December 2012. The CFA program is a self-study program for investment professionals which covers economics, financial reporting and analysis, corporate finance, and portfolio management, among other topics. Passing the three-level CFA exam series, as well as meeting professional and ethical requirements, will earn candidates the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst.

Jeric says, “The curriculum of CFA is very well applicable to our services to clients. I believe it will better improve our quality.” For him, it was important to manage his time and make the right choices in preparing for the exam. He attended a group study where they shared answers for every question they encountered during their review, enabling them to understand the questions in the exam better.

Jeric is involved in financial institution governance and model valuation engagements. An honor student in high school with math as his favorite subject, he was a Dean’s Lister in the De La Salle University where he obtained a degree in Management of Financial Institutions. He enjoys playing basketball during his free time and placed a close second with the team CGL-FALcons in a tournament he organized with FSRM colleagues.

“Pursuing the CFA designation not only enables me to enhance my skills and knowledge on finance, but also sends a signal to the clients of my commitment to delivering quality service,” Xenon shares. Preparing for the exam while working was a challenge, but he realized all it took was discipline, time management and dedication. He advises fellow aspiring CFA charterholders to start studying well in advance, commit to a study plan and regularly assess themselves to see areas they must focus on.

Xenon is involved in pricing and risk model review engagements, financial instruments and structured investments review and valuation. He performs assurance work and was involved in a cross-border due diligence engagement. He graduated with honors from the University of San Carlos in Cebu and was a topnotcher in the CPA Board Examinations. He topped the 2012 FSRM Academy Comprehensive Exams. Outside work, he loves reading on a wide variety of subjects.

A graduate of Management Engineering (Honor’s Program) from the Ateneo de Manila University and a high school valedictorian, Erwin is currently involved in Enterprise Risk Management and investment management process reviews for government financial institutions as well as risk model and valuation reviews. He enjoys swimming and was formerly part of a dance crew.

Congratulations to Jeric, Xenon and Erwin on a job well done!
