The holiday season may be over, but the spirit of giving lives in EY all year long. We are calling for volunteers who wish to help distribute used toys, books and games from the UK to non-government organizations (NGOs) in the Philippines.

The project, called “The Toy Drop”, is run by EY London Associate Director Shelley Schachter-Cahm. Donations are collected through a number of UK Jewish organizations and schools, and are distributed to NGOs such as the Smile Train, the Besao municipality, the Manila Jewish community, the Batangas Primary Schools Federation, the Bahay Maria and La Trinidad orphanages, some church groups and DHL.

The Toy Drop won the Pears Foundation and Wohl International Volunteer of the Year Award from the Jewish Volunteer Network, with Shelley being nominated for a Shining Star Award.

Shelley will be here in early February to conduct a Toy Drop distribution event. Those who may want to help out may contact SGV Foundation Executive Director Marlu Balmaceda and visit www.facebook.com/thetoydrop to know more about the project.
