Former SGVean Jeffrey C. Lim, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of SM Prime Holdings, Inc., was declared CFO of the Year 2012 by the ING Bank Manila and the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX).
The award recognizes Mr. Lim’s governance, compliance, corporate social responsibility, significant contribution to the reputation and stature of CFOs as well as excellent stewardship of SM Prime, which is now one of the world’s largest shopping mall chains. It was bestowed after a rigorous evaluation by the ING-FINEX Search and Selection Committee and an appearance before a Board of Judges composed of Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Atty. Tess Herbosa, Philippine Stock Exchange President Hans Sicat, Institute of Corporate Directors President Rex Drilon II, Social Security System President Emil de Quiros, Department of Energy Undersecretary Francis Varela, and ING Bank Manila Country Head Zondie Garcia.
SGV Chairman and Managing Partner Vic Noel, Deputy Managing Partner Itos Cruz, Tax Services Head Mannie Alcantara and Assurance Partner Bibi Beng Hui were present to congratulate Mr. Lim as he personally received the award during a ceremony held on 21 November 2012 at the Manila Peninsula’s Rigodon Ballroom.
This is not the first time that Mr. Lim was distinguished for his expertise in financial management. He was also named one of the Philippines’ Best CFOs in FinanceAsia Magazine’s 12th annual poll of Asia’s top companies.
A Certified Public Accountant with an Accounting degree from the University of the East, Mr. Lim was with SGV from 1981 to 1988. He then joined Unisys, a worldwide IT company, in Manila and later in Hong Kong. He served as SM Prime’s Vice President of Finance and Administration from 1994 to August 2006. Currently, Mr. Lim is also the company’s Corporate Information Officer and the Chairman of the Enterprise Risk Management Committee.
